The Greater Bay Area International Maker Summit & Maker Faire Shenzhen is the annual flagship event of the maker community at home and abroad. Since first landing in Shenzhen in 2012, it has been driving the exchange and integration between Shenzhen’s local hardware innovation ecosystem and the global technology innovation community. Through the connection and collaboration between community innovation and industry, it promotes industrial innovation and upgrading in a bottom-up manner.

The event’s audience spans nearly 100 countries and regions worldwide. It is a cross-border innovation extravaganza with exceptionally high participation in the international innovator community, and a platform for dialogue and collaboration between industry and professional makers.

The summit has always been the interface and bridge linking technological innovation with real-world applications. This year, we are shining the spotlight on the true game-changers — OPC (One Person Company) super individuals — to see how they pull AI out of the screen, solder it into hardware, and throw it into the real world.

In the two months since this year’s summit was officially announced, multiple companies from the maker ecosystem have already confirmed their sponsorship:

Open-source Hardware & Embedded Platforms

  • Arduino
  • Seeed Studio
  • ALIENTEK (正点原子)
  • Sipeed (矽速科技)
  • M5Stack

Digital Manufacturing & Desktop Equipment

  • Xhorse
  • NestWorks (巢匠科技)
  • Makera (造物时代)
  • ELEGOO (智能派)

IoT Platforms & AI Cloud

  • Tuya (涂鸦智能)
  • Manifold Tech (流形科技)

Maker Community & Content Services

It is precisely with this full-chain support — spanning from chip modules and precision equipment to the global community — that Maker Faire Shenzhen has been able to evolve from a mere exhibition into a “super accelerator” for technological innovation.

Since being established in Shenzhen by Chaihuo Maker Space in 2012, the Greater Bay Area International Maker Summit has now reached its 14th year (in 2014 the event was upgraded into one of the world’s seven Featured-level community gatherings). In total, it has attracted nearly a hundred countries and over a thousand maker teams from around the world to China for exchange, display, and collaboration — making it the most influential maker exchange event in China.

The summit has cumulatively received over 600,000 professional visitors, including 193,690 visitors in 2015, making it one of the largest maker events in the world by attendance.

What we have witnessed is not merely the refresh of statistics, but the flourishing of open-source hardware and AI technology genuinely moving toward industrial implementation. To meet the exhibition needs of audiences across different circles, the summit has also planned and organized a rich array of on-site activities:

  • Innovation Forum + Maker Hyper-Evolution Live Show
  • Cutting-edge AI Highlight Project Showcase
  • Rich Industry Innovation & Interactive Experience Workshops
  • Nearly 100 international innovation ambassadors from 30+ countries

At the 2025 summit, industry pioneers including Raspberry Pi, Hugging Face, Arm China, D-Robotics (地瓜机器人), Petoi, M5Stack, Mushroom Cloud, and Seeed Studio shared the stage, jointly creating an international innovation event that fused frontier ideas, technical exchange, and cross-border collaboration.

2025 was the inflection point when AI broke down the boundaries between all things; in 2026, the era of OPC creators has fully arrived.

One person, one desktop CNC, one development board — that is all it takes to run a product through its full cycle. But turning something from “able to run” into “able to run far” does not depend on going it alone; it depends on the combined strength of the entire ecosystem.

Last year, together with our partners, we witnessed the grand occasion of “AI without boundaries, all things reborn” — and proved that when the right tools meet the right people, the output is exponential innovation. This year, we want to make this table even bigger.

December 12–13 (Weekend)
The annual hyper-evolution stage for global makers
MEGA EVOLUTION STAGE FOR GLOBAL MAKERS

Over the past 13 years, the development trajectory of Maker Faire Shenzhen can be seen as an epitome of the development of China’s maker culture.

2012: “Gather small wisdom, traverse the great future” — the first Mini-level Maker Faire, with fewer than 1,000 attendees, was more like a gathering within a small circle. But we saw the infinite possibilities emerging from the maker community.

2013: No slogan — the maker circle was still small, and few people in China knew what a maker was. In the OCT-LOFT Creative Culture Park, through the cross-border exchange of different creative communities, we quietly carried out cultural output and groundwork. View review

2014: “Innovating with China” — upgraded to Featured level for the first time, with a much larger scale than before and the introduction of professional independent forums. This year, makers began to enter the public eye. Review link

2015: “Everyone is a maker — what are you waiting for?” — the main venue of Shenzhen International Maker Week, becoming one of the largest Maker Faires in the world. This year, “maker” was elevated to the national level, various favorable policies were released, and the entrepreneurial wave swept across the country. Review here

2016: “My world, I create it” — a sub-venue of the National Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation Week, held for the first time fully integrated into a commercial center district, enduring the worst weather in years, from typhoons to scorching heat. This year, many makers succeeded in their ventures, but seemingly more failed. Toward the entrepreneurial wave, people became more rational and gained multifaceted perspectives. View review

2017: “Makers, go pro” — the event entered university campuses for the first time, and we began to focus deeply on Maker Pro (professional makers), providing a platform for diverse innovators and maker teams to showcase themselves, and presenting the maker community with more possibilities for maker growth paths. View review

2018: “Co-making in the City” — the main venue of Shenzhen International Maker Week, where individuals, organizations, and groups with shared visions and values gathered to co-create in the pursuit of common value. We hope that on the Maker Faire platform, we can showcase the stories, projects, and explorations of collaboration and co-creation among different communities and groups. Review link

2019: “Return to the community, connect with industry” — the event was reorganized and upgraded into the Greater Bay Area International Maker Summit & Maker Faire Shenzhen, attempting to introduce professional audiences and focus on more pragmatic aspects such as addressing industrial upgrading needs and co-developing with industry, building a platform for dialogue and collaboration between innovation and industry. 2023: “Where are the makers now?” — restarted and returned with the theme “Where are the makers now?”, inviting industry ecosystem partners to join the exhibition for the first time, setting up multiple satellite events, and launching multiple industry innovation workshops, presenting rich industry innovation solutions. 2024: “Everything can be AI” — this year’s summit gathered more than 120 domestic and international exhibitors, and cumulatively attracted nearly 1,500 professional visitors from nearly 20 countries and regions overseas and more than 20 provinces in China. The exhibition showcased many AI application projects, while 10 AI hardware-themed satellite events and various workshops were held concurrently. Review here

2025: “AI without boundaries, all things reborn” — this summit gathered nearly 100 international innovation ambassadors, showcased nearly a thousand AI hardware projects, and brought together technology leaders, maker pioneers, industry experts, and university teams from more than 30 countries worldwide, jointly creating an international innovation event that fused frontier ideas, technical exchange, and cross-border collaboration.
