Alejandro Puig | Be Bold, Start Building—No Matter the Outcome, You’ll Gain Something

At Maker Faire Shenzhen 2025, we had the chance to chat with AI developer and content creator Alejandro Puig. If you’re exploring the intersection of AI and hardware, or thinking about taking a project toward a real product, his story is well worth hearing.

As a hands-on practitioner in embedded AI, Alejandro focuses on deploying speech recognition and vision models on small, resource-constrained devices. He is passionate about “putting large language models into tiny hardware,” enabling truly offline, edge-based AI applications.

When asked “How do you start your first AI project?”, Alejandro’s answer was straightforward: “Don’t reject yourself before you even begin.” Many people worry that their hardware isn’t powerful enough, but his advice is simple—take advantage of the vast number of online tutorials and open-source communities, and just start experimenting. For makers aiming to turn projects into products, he also emphasized the importance of connecting with people who have different skill sets—whether it’s PCB design or other expertise, collaboration is what helps a prototype grow into a mature product.

Visiting Maker Faire Shenzhen for the first time, Alejandro described the experience as “inspiring.” He strongly encourages anyone interested in technology and DIY—regardless of age or experience—to come and experience it for themselves.
